Erlangen and beer – a connection with a long tradition. The brewing trade experienced its heyday here from the mid-19th century. There were up to 18 breweries in the town at that time, and Erlangen enjoyed a reputation as a beer city or “beer island” far beyond the borders of the Bavarian kingdom.
